Hours: Monday, Wed-Thurs, Sat-Sun: 10am-6pm | Friday: 10am-9pm (Closed Tuesdays). First Friday of the month is free from 6pm-9pm and ample, on-site free parking is available. $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and free for kids under 18, active military with I.D., and students with I.D. Over a thirty-year period 20th-century industrialist Norton Simon (1907–1993) amassed an astonishing collection of European art from the Renaissance to the 20th century and a stellar collection of South and Southeast Asian art spanning 2,000 years. The Norton Simon Museum is known around the world as one of the most remarkable private art collections ever assembled. Their collection ranges from ancient Asia, European art from 14th-19th centuries, modern and contemporary, prints and photographs, and an ever-rotating series of exhibitions making Norton Simon a must-see for a strong dose of culture. Private tours are available by reservation.The Norton Simon Museum has been at the epicenter of Pasadena's art scene since the 1920s. To extend the impact of these exhibitions and to explore genres and themes within the permanent collection, the Museum offers six to ten free public programs per month, including scholarly lectures and symposia, adult education courses, music and dance performances and hands-on activities for children. There are two temporary exhibition spaces within the Museum the curatorial department mounts three to five exhibitions centered on the collection, and one special masterpiece loan, per year.
